Vito (“we”, “us”, or “our") is the reels-style property and places app built for Tanzania. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our website at vito.co.tz and the Vito mobile web app.
By using Vito, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Information we collect
- Account information: phone number, four-digit PIN, full name, and whether you are a seeker, madalali (agent), or business.
- Agent profile information: bio, WhatsApp number, normal phone number, location, and social media links such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
- Listing content: photos, videos, descriptions, location text, price, and Google Maps links that you upload when creating a listing or place request.
- Usage data: device type, browser, IP address, app interactions, search filters, and the listings you view or unlock.
- Payment information: transaction references, amounts, and payment status. We do not store full mobile-money or card details on our servers.
- Communications: messages or support requests you send to us.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your Vito account.
- To show relevant property and place listings in the reels feed.
- To process unlock and booking payments through our payment partners.
- To reveal a madalali’s WhatsApp contact only after a seeker has paid to unlock it.
- To review and approve agent and place-listing requests.
- To improve the app, fix issues, and prevent fraud or abuse.
- To send important service updates or respond to your support requests.
How we share your information
We only share your information in limited situations:
- With agents/madalali: when you pay to unlock a listing, we share the agent’s WhatsApp number with you. We do not share your phone number with the agent unless you contact them directly.
- With service providers: our cloud backend, payment processor, and analytics providers help us run Vito securely.
- For legal reasons: if required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
Cookies and local storage
Vito uses browser local storage and cookies to keep you signed in, remember your last viewed feed, and store simple UI preferences such as whether you have seen a hint. You can clear these at any time through your browser settings, but doing so may sign you out.
Data retention and security
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We use industry-standard security measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your data, but no online service can guarantee 100% security.
Your rights
You can update your profile, request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account and associated information by contacting us. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first.
Children’s privacy
Vito is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us so we can remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of the page and notify you of significant changes through the app or by other means.
